Goldratt Assignment for IEM 4103: Intro to Industrial Quality Control Prepared by Karissa Johnson May 2016 Summary of Itââ¬â¢s Not Luck Itââ¬â¢s Not Luck by Eliyahu M. Goldratt was published in 1994 by The North River Press Publishing Company, Massachusetts. Itââ¬â¢s Not luck is a sequel to The Goal that follows the fictitious character, Alex Rogo, from becoming a plant manager to executive vice president of three diversified companies owned by the group UniCo. UniCo is doing poorly and has decided to sell the three companies Alex is in charge of. To keep this from happening and save his companies from being sold, Alex must use the Theory of Constraints (TOC) techniques and the Thinking Processes to come up with breakthrough solutions. The first company is Printing Company; its current challenge is how to significantly increase profits (Monteiro 2011, slide 3). The second company is Pressure-Steam; its current challenge is also how to drastically increase sales/profits and must have a market breakthrough (Monteiro 2011, slide 4). The third company is I Cosmetics; its current challenge is the same as the other two as well as not launching new products fast enough (Monteiro 2011, slide 5).
